If you do, then the HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar may be for you.
HOBY is short for Hugh O’Brian Youth. HOBY was started by Hugh O’Brian in 1958. Hugh O’Brian volunteered with Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1952 Nobel Peace Prize Winner) and portrayed legendary law-man Wyatt Earp on television when I was a kid. HOBY will be conducted on May 29-31, 2009 at Bismarck State College.
If you are interested in more information or if you want to be considered as New Salem High School’s representative, stop in to see me. You can also find out more about HOBY at www.HOBY.org. There is a $ 150.00 cost to the student for attending HOBY. If there is an individual or a group who would like to sponsor this year's sophomore, please contact me.
Yes, Hugh O’Brian is still alive and attends a few of the 70 HOBY Youth Leadership Seminars across the country. He is one of my childhood hero’s. It would be nice to meet him some day.
If you have any questions on career, counseling, or assessment topics, please contact me at either New Salem High School at 843-7610, or at my residence at 222-3222.
