Cooks Help Student Do Their Best!
Thanks to Sandy Heid for her cooperation in planning and baking a power snack again this year for New Salem High School 7th, 8th, and 11th grade students. The North Dakota State Assessment was administered to our students on October 23rd, 24th, and 25th. This is the 6th consecutive year that Sandy Heid and some of her assistants have put forth extra effort to help our students on the North Dakota State Assessment. I could see and students confirmed that the mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks helped them be more energetic and more ready to do their best on the test!

I have placed sign up sheets for seniors to sign-up if they would like to visit with the admissions representative. If you or someone you know would like to visit with these college admissions counselors without having to drive to their campus, please either call Mrs. Karen Becker or me so we can put you on the list. Of course, you are also invited to just come.
Congratulations to New Salem High School Athletic Programs!
New Salem High School students continue to do their best and represent New Salem High School very well. The New Salem Cross-Country team did well at the State Cross-Country meet finishing in 9th place – higher than what was predicted. Congratulations to Mr. Brent Lauff and his cross-country runners. I will miss the jolly banter that I have heard for weeks after school outside my office door by these fine athletes and students.
Good luck to coaches Jeanette Cook, Bonnie Toepke, and the New Salem High School’s volleyball team at this week’s regional volleyball tournament! It will take good and consistent playing to advance to state!
The fans attending sporting events also continue to show respect for the opposing teams and the officials. I hope we can continue to do that. We are teaching our students and others good sportsmanship that goes beyond the athletic events. We have a great student body at New Salem High School. This is not by chance. This is a reflection of the caring and concerned parents, teachers, and community members of the New Salem. Thanks for your efforts in helping to prepare today’s students for tomorrow.
