New Salem/Almont Dollars for Scholars Needs Help!
The New Salem/Almont Dollars for Scholars organization needs your help. What they need are additional volunteers to serve on the local Dollars for Scholars Committee. Volunteers would assist with the planning and decision-making. Committee members do not need to have a student in the school to serve on this committee.

What would be involved is between 2 to 4 meetings per year. If you are interested in being a part of this organization, please contact Chairman Mark Fleck at 843-8328.

Berger Family Scholarship!
This year the descendants of Kaspar and Pauline Berger are again offering a $ 2,000. Scholarship to a senior from New Salem High School. The Bergers graduated from New Salem High School years ago and all live out-of-state. They decided years ago that they wanted to give something back to the New Salem/Almont Community. This is the 4th consecutive year the Bergerís have very generously provided for a $ 2,000. Scholarship.

In March I received 8 completed applications from our seniors. One of them will be the recipient of this scholarship. Thanks to the Berger Family for their support of students at New Salem High School!

Start Your Own Scholarship?
If you seem to have plenty of what you need to live and have an interest in helping out a young person attending college, please consider providing a scholarship. Contacting Mark Fleck of the New Salem/Almont Dollars for Scholars Chapter can do this. You can either donate to the scholarship fund or you can provide a local scholarship through our local New Salem/Dollars for Scholars Chapter. As I said, this is if you have plenty and would like to give something back to help our next generation.

I can tell you that every student that Iíve contacted to inform them that they were the recipient of the Berger Family Scholarship are thrilled to say the least. If you are interested in doing this, please contact Mr. Mark Fleck with the New Salem Almont Dollars for Scholars at 843-8328. If you want to offer a scholarship but donít want to run it through the local dollars for scholars, please contact me at 843-7610.

If you have any questions on financial aid, career and other counseling issues, please contact me at New Salem High School at 843-7610. If something urgent comes up I can be reached at my residence at 222-3222.
