Congratulations!

Congratulations go to Courtney Hulm a sophomore student at New Salem Almont High School who applied for and was selected to attend the North Dakota Governor’s School in the science program area. The North Dakota Governor’s School is a six-week program for scholastically motivated North Dakota high school sophomores and juniors. Courtney will live, work and have fun on the NDSU campus in Fargo. She will participate in a broad-based training program in laboratory science during the first week of the Governor’s School. She will be paired with a mentor scientist and will join a research group based on her interest and availability of projects. She will present her research in a poster session during the final week of the Governor’s School. Best wishes and good luck to Courtney during this invaluable pre-college experience, which will be held in June and July.

Business Challenge at DSU
Business Challenge is a summer entrepreneurial experience for students in grades 9-12 and for K-12 educators. It applies to all students, even if they are not interested in a business major in college. It is scheduled at Dickinson State University and historic Medora on June 13-18 for students and June 13-16 for educators.

Students have the opportunity to spend a week on the DSU campus, earn high school or dual credit, strengthen leadership skills, and gain financial skills. They will also be able to make new friends, experience college life and enjoy recreation, a dance, and a trip to Medora. At Business Challenge students form their own “company”, led by a North Dakota Business professional, and work together during the week in various events and competitions.

If you are interested in attending Business Challenge, contact Mrs. Linda Becker at the high school. The “early bird special” deadline is April 30, 2010 for a discounted registration fee of $125. There is an additional cost for the dual credit option. For more information, go to www.gobusinesschallenge.com.
