One of the many things I like about my job is assisting students in obtaining funding to pursue post-secondary education. This includes federal loans, grants, and college work-study as well as scholarships. The Hebron High School Class of 2006 college scholarship recipients and their scholarships are:
Kimberly Conlon is the recipient of the Minot State University R J Doebler Scholarship, the Hebron Dollars for Scholars Scholarship, and the Hazel Funk Scholarship.
Mackenzie Elmer received the Stuart Treiber Scholarship, the Hebron Dollars for Scholars Scholarship, and the Hazel Funk Scholarship.
Erica Spangelo received a Dickinson State University Academic Scholarship, the Dickinson State University Cultural Enrichment Scholarship, the Western Cooperative Credit Union Scholarship, the Stuart Treiber Scholarship, the Elaine Ross Memorial Scholarship, a Hebron Dollars for Scholars Scholarship, and the Hazel Funk Scholarship.
Kimberly Wanner received the Valley City State University Hazel McBride Scholarship, the West River Scholarship, the Bob and Elaine Ross Scholarship, the Hebron Dollars for Scholars Scholarship, the Hebron Brick Company Scholarship, and the Hazel Funk Scholarship.
The above scholarships are the ones of which I was aware of at the end of the school year. Some students will receive some additional scholarships. As of graduation Hebron students are receiving a total of $ 24,800.00 for the first year of college. When I calculate in the renewable scholarships, the total amount of scholarships these students are eligible to receive totals $ 39,500.00. Way to go seniors!
Congratulations for your hard work and extra effort in high school. Often hard work does pay off in the long run. Receiving these scholarships is like getting paid for doing well in high school. I hope current high school students who read this will be motivated to continue to do their best in school and in life.
Thanks To Scholarship Donors
I hope that scholarship recipients write thank you letters or cards to those who have contributed scholarships. If scholarship recipients are short on words, just a simple “Thanks for the scholarship” would be nice. One could also briefly state how the money will help in pursuing post-secondary education and realizing one’s dreams. This helps to convey gratitude to the donors as well as to help the scholarship donors to want to continue donating and awarding the scholarship.
Thanks to everyone from Hebron and the surrounding area who contributed to these scholarships. I hope this effort continues by everyone involved in providing opportunities for our students to continue their education. Congratulations scholarships recipients!
